Turkish Cuisine Class - Session #2

image3The 2nd session of the Turkish Cuisine Class was held on October 25th at Raindrop Turkish House - NW Houston Branch.

The students learned how to cook the dishes Bulgur Wheat Pilaf, Baked Chicken with Vegetables, Shepherd's Salad, and Mosaic Cake.

Then they enjoyed the delicous menu with the Raindrop volunteers.

Women's Social on October 15th

WS-Resized2The first Women's Social of the season was held on October 15th.The night was full of music with the contributions from raindrop volunteers Seda, Renee and Inci.

The guests first enjoyed the light dinner prepared by Turkish women of Raindrop Turkish House.After the dinner, Seda introduced the Turkish music instruments to the guets. Then Rene played beautiful Classical music samples from Beethoven, Mozart and other famous composers. She also gave a brief information about the compositions. The night followed with the Turkish songs performed by Seda. Inci joined her with traditional music instrumeny saz. After the live music preformance, guests played karaoke.

Turkish Cuisine Class - Session #1

image1The Raindrop NW Branch held its 1st. Turkish Cuisine Class session on Saturday with four dish meals complete with recipes.

Guests took notes as they watched our talented chef work and asked questions throughout the process to be able recreate the dishes at home. Meanwhile, they sipped their Turkish tea and enjoyed the famous Turkish pastry "Simit".

Guests also enjoyed learning some useful techniques and tips to make simple meals that are packed with flavor and nutrition.

At last, everyone enjoyed generous tasting of every dish prepared in class. Who needs takeout when you can enjoy all this?

Friendship Dinner by Raindrop - NW Houston

MainPhotoMainPhoto2On Thursday September 25, Raindrop Turkish House Northwest Branch hosted Annual Friendship Dinner. The dinner was a great success as friends of the Raindrop Turkish house filled the WFUD Building with their enthusiasm for friendship, understanding and learning from each other.

The program started with a greeting by Ms. Anita Garibovic. Attendees were invited to taste delicious samples of Turkish Cuisine prepared by Raindrop Volunteers. After the dinner the keynote speaker of the dinner, Kristen Clark was invited to make her speech.

Raindrop NW Houston Branch Iftar Dinner

DSC 5367On Thursday, July 10th, Raindrop Turkish House Northwest branch hosted an iftar dinner for friends and neighbors at WFUD Building. It was a great opportunity for everyone to meet new people and spend a great time with the family in a friendly multicultural environment. About hundred and thirty people attended the dinner.

Spring Picnic

ManisaLalesiIn April we continued to celebrate spring with a friendly picnic. Our Spring Picnic was held on April 26th, 2014 at the Pavilion of the Village of Woodwind Lakes. Raindrop volunteers and guests got together to enjoy this wonderful season of the year. Weather was so nice and the picnic was started with a short welcome followed by everybody introducing themselves. Delicious food was enjoyed in the breezy weather as guests mingled and children played. This event was a grand entrance into a new season, and we look forward to many more.

May Coffee Night / Henna Night

CoffeeNight May2014Raindrop Turkish House Northwest branch held May Coffee night on Saturday May 24, 2014. The focus of the night was Turkish Henna Night which is a part of Turkish wedding. The event started with a dinner that included delicious examples of Turkish Cuisine. To help victims of Bosnian flooding, drawings were held and participants won varietyof gifts as an exchange for their participation.After the presentation on Turkish Henna Night, Raindrop volunteers and guests demonstrated Henna ceremony together followed by lots of dancing!
