4.jpgBaklava Night

On November 2nd we had Baklava Night at Raindrop Turkish House. We started the night with a presentation about baklava. Our friend Zeynep has told about the history and culture around baklava. Our guests were suprised of the variety of baklavas that are made in Turkey.

After presentation we all ate delicious dishes and deserts as usual. We played some games and had fun. Then we ate baklava a second time. Then we made drawing and gave presents to the lucky ones of night. Then we played another game and ate baklava for the third time and so on J It was really a night of baklava. It was so much that our guests brought some home at the end of the night.

Like in the Turkish saying we ate sweet and talked sweetly. We hope to see you all in the upcoming events to have more fun!

On October 23th we had the advanced cooking class at one of our friends' home.  Gulsenem was the cook for the day and she presented both Turkish and Turkmen dishes. We learnt how Rainbow Salad, Mucver(Fried Vegetable Bread) and Rose Desert. She also made her special honey cake which has been quite famous this semester among the cooking class attendants with its unique taste.

The class has tried hard to give the rose shape and some were succesful enough J The raindbow salad was the suprise taste of day. Everyone enjoyed the foods,Turkish friends and chatting friends at the end and left with a smiley face and an eager to try the dishes at home asap.
