American Culture Presentation for the Turkish community
The Raindrop Turkish House has started classes on American Culture for the Turkish community. So far, a wide range of topics including American History, American Literature, Religions in America, American Media, American Sports, Music and Cinema in America, Etiquette and Table Manners have been covered.
The classes has been going on every Thursday at 6:45 p.m., free and open to public. Please contact to the Raindrop Turkish House for more details.
Turkey Trip Meeting with YES and KIPP

imageOn April 15th, students and parents from YES and KIPP joined to the presentation about useful tips for Turkey trip. Professor Mehmet Kanik gave very enjoyable PowerPoint presentation and informed everyone about cultural differences. He also taught some basic Turkish phrases that is used in greeting. People had a great time.

7th Annual Turkish Culture and Language Olympiad held at Arena Theater in Houston

turkisholympiad20131_42The 7th Annual Turkish Language Olympiad, organized by Raindrop Foundation, was held at Arena Theater in Houston on Sunday, March 24, 2013.  Over a thousand viewers enjoyed this festive atmosphere where students, parents, teachers and guests enjoyed live performances in different languages including English, Turkish and Spanish. The MC of the program was ABC 13’s Miya Shay together with two students, Anthony Beltran and Phillip Munoz who made announcements in Turkish.

Kid's Guitar Class in Raindrop Houston
We  started Guitar courses in this Saturday, 1/09/13 . There is beginner level Guitar classes at Raindrop Turkish House on Saturday. Course will take 15 weeks. This semester's tuition fee is $10 per class to cover material and Teacher costs.
Raindrop Women Association Houston branch volunteers bring a special Turkish Cuisine Class to Houston Women Shelter.

P1070358They prepare 4 different dishes together and served the yummy meal as lunch. Women Shelter provides a safe living environment, health and legal services, counseling and opportunities for healing to victims of sexual and domestic violence.

January 30th 2013 Raindrop volunteers visited women shelter and shared the universal joy of cooking together. Hot tomato soup, Dalyan Kofte as a main dish along with white rice pilaf and special Turkish desert baklava cooked and served. Around 20 adults and 30 kids tasted this delicious lunch.

Raindrop Turkish House Women Association celebrated Valentines’ Day with a very entertaining program on Feb.9th, Saturday at Raindrop Houston.
After a delicious brunch served  the program started with a presentation about Raindrop Women Association’s activities such as Helping Hands, Cooking Class, Coffee Night, Ebru Class, English Class, Turkish Class and Seminars. The participants enjoyed the live cooking show and had fun watching the cooking competition on making a cookie among some volunteers.

P1070591Raindrop Turkish House of Houston participated at Texas Luna  Festival on February 16th, 2013. The day festival had many participants from around the world including Turkey. An estimated more than 10,000 people visited to learn more about different cultures in the globe. it is a great contributor to the diverse culture of Texas.

Here is the info about the Nawruz Cup!



Each team has to pay $100 for application. Per player $10

$10 Fee include rent of field, supply (ball, water, T-shirt, ice and gifts for player) and fee of referee.

Teams consist of 6 players playing at one time (includes keepers).  Teams are allowed to have up to 10 players on their roster.

Players can only play for one team during the tournament.

Proper shoes and shin guards shall be worn.

Players are not permitted to wear necklaces, chains, or bracelets at any time during a game.

Mississippi Tornado Victims Need Our Help!
mstornadosonWe are deeply saddened by the loss and the damage because of the Tornado in Southern Mississippi. Our hearts and thoughts go to all of those who were affected by the Tornado but people need more than that.

Federal Government has declared a major disaster in the State of Mississippi following a massive tornado that destroyed or heavily damaged more than 800 homes in the southern part of the state.

Raindrop Helping Hands launches a campaign that focuses on all aspects of the relief efforts following Tornado pass through Southern counties of Mississippi. Please send us your generous donation.
