FridaySocialABQRaindrop brought members of Albuquerque Community together at Friday Social program on Friday, April 12, 2013. It was an unstructured relaxing time between 7:30- 9:30 pm on Friday with tea, coffee, pastries, cookies, refreshments, music, and movie, playing games and more...Each Friday Social event has a highlight. The highlight of this Friday Social Night was a lecture by Fatma Midani, MD with the topic of "How to Protect Ourselves from Cancer". Attendees left the stress of the week behind and enjoyed a family environment with friendly conversation.

Early Celebration of Nawruz with Women Entrepreneur Guests from Kirgizstan

photo3Raindrop Albuquerque hosted an early celebration of the Nawruz with 10 guests from Kirgizstan on Sunday, March 10, 2013. Nawruz is a spring celebration observed widely by the Turkic peoples living in a wide territory that includes East and Central Asia, Siberia, the Caucasus, Crimea, Anatolia and the Balkans. . Nawruz generally falls around March 21, corresponding to the vernal equinox, when the day and night are of equal length. Nawruz is an official holiday in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and a public holiday in Turkey.

Movie Night- White Angel

beyazmelekRaindrop Foundation Albuquerque organized a movie night on Saturday, February 15, 2013. Around thirty attendees watched Beyaz Melek (White Angel) that is a 2007 Turkish drama film, written and directed by Mahsun Kırmızıgül, which follows the story of two Eastern youths who find themselves in a rest home after their father comes down with cancer. The film, which went on general release across Turkey on November 16, 2007, won the Remi Award at the 41st World Fest-Houston International Film Festival and was the second highest-grossing Turkish film of 2007.

7th Annual Turkish Culture and Language Olympiad held at Arena Theater in Houston

turkisholympiad20131_42The 7th Annual Turkish Language Olympiad, organized by Raindrop Foundation, was held at Arena Theater in Houston on Sunday, March 24, 2013.  Over a thousand viewers enjoyed this festive atmosphere where students, parents, teachers and guests enjoyed live performances in different languages including English, Turkish and Spanish. The MC of the program was ABC 13’s Miya Shay together with two students, Anthony Beltran and Phillip Munoz who made announcements in Turkish.

Mississippi Tornado Victims Need Our Help!

mstornadosonWe are deeply saddened by the loss and the damage because of the Tornado in Southern Mississippi. Our hearts and thoughts go to all of those who were affected by the Tornado but people need more than that.

Federal Government has declared a major disaster in the State of Mississippi following a massive tornado that destroyed or heavily damaged more than 800 homes in the southern part of the state.
Raindrop Helping Hands launches a campaign that focuses on all aspects of the relief efforts following Tornado pass through Southern counties of Mississippi.
